Umami is Japanese for the fifth taste - with sweet, salty, sour and bitter being the first four - it translates into savory. Most people don't know what it is but, it makes food taste good... they say.
The Los Angeles burger chain of the same name has not wasted any time in opening locations and exposing people foodies to Umami. Selling 100,000 burgers might have something to do with all of that expansion.
While their ingredients are a secret, their locations and menu options aren't.
