Harlem: Upscale Development Continues Uptown Baby!
Wednesday, December 30, 2009
Interior of a unit at the Douglass, with hardwood floors and high-end appliances.

The Douglass, one of the newer luxury filled developments to go up in Harlem.
Developers are gambling that one particular stretch of Harlem will be the next big thing in real estate... not because it's so hip and cool, but, because of its proximity to all that New York has to offer. (Corporate America is in love with Harlem these days and I'm sure being priced out of the downtown real estate market has something to do with it too!)
If you aren't aware, over the past decade Harlem has undergone more than gentrification, it is being transformed, in many ways, into Times Square North. With the influx of new banks, retail stores, theaters, restaurants and markets, it's safe to say this development will find its market.
It's only a matter of time before the money starts flowing again and people want in on some of that new Harlem luxury on Frederick Douglass Boulevard, across 110th Street. Perhaps this area will allow lovers of Manhattan to actually live in Manhattan.

The Livmor, another new development on 115th street, opens January of 2010.
