Kool Keith is legend and a pioneer of unorthodox rhyming that wasn't placing emphasis on the 2 and the 4 count. He looked verses in 16 bars instead of 8 and focused on his subject matter and delivery. I find it unfortunate that his name is left out of many of the discussions when it comes to Bronx rap, New York City rap or rap music in general. Pharoahe Monch and Ghostface Killa are two example of rappers who use a similar technique. The rhyme around the beat and demand that you listen to them, staying on beat the entire time, similar to a bebop jazz musician.
