Burger King's Kuro Burger Goes "All-Black-Everything"

Black bun, black cheese and black sauce are how you would describe Burger King's "Kuro Burger" - only available in Japan. With so much effort going into how it looks, I can guess how little went into how it tastes.

REWIND: The World Trade Center in Music Videos & Film

A few videos and films that have featured the World Trade Center.

Stezo, "It's My Turn" - Rapper Steezo may have gotten into the business with EPMD, but when he got his chance as an artist, he had a star studded video with shots on the World Trade Center Plaza and a helicopter.

Al B. Sure!, "Night and Day" - Although Al B. Sure! was signed to Warner Bros. Records, it was though a production deal with Andre Harrell's Uptown Records. As with other artists Andre oversaw, he wanted a New York City themed video to introduce Al to the public. The Twin Towers make an appearance in this one.

Jane Child, "Don't Wanna Fall In Love" - Although she's not from New York(she's from Toronto), Jane Child wanted a video that captured the energy of New York City. She would also do another one for her New Jack Swing remix of "Don't Wanna Fall In Love" that was essentially an edit of the original. As with the others a shot of the World Trade Center buildings 1 and 2 was necessary.

Janet Jackson, "Let's Wait Awhile" Filmed in New York City, this video made great use of the the Gotham City's skyline, bridges and architecture. This was the fifth single from Jackson's Control album, having shots that included the Twin Towers gave it a more sophisticated, metropolitan feel.

Trading Places starring Eddie Murhphy and Dan Akroyd. In the film Eddie Murphy learns how to trade in stocks and bonds. Althought the film is set in Philadelphia, they must travel to the New York Stock Exchange in NYC to outsmart Randy and Mortimer Duke. Exiting the cab, the World Trade Center can't be missed.

Men In Black starring Tommy Lee Jones & Will Smith

The film above and the video below appear to filmed from the same location, Liberty State Park in Jersey City, New Jersey. They are facing east while we see the west side of the Twin Towers and the Financial District in the background Lower Manhattan.

Jungle Fire - "Tropicoso"

Los Angeles' Jungle Fire drops the percussive, funky and polyrhythmic "Tropicoso" just ahead of the release of their new album of the same name - look for it on September 23.

Love the call/response arrangements of the horns.

Ed Motta - Nice Jazz Festival 2014

Singer, musician Ed Motta(@EdMotta) and his band perform several songs from his latest release AOR - "Simple Guy", "Lost In The Night", "1978 and "Smile".

I like lead vocal and tempo on "Lost In The Night", pushes the groove more than the album version.

Video: Thundercat + Eric Andre - "Tron Song"

If bassist Thundercat(@Thundercat) and comedian Eric Andre were hoping to make the weirdest and most obnoxiously annoying video with gratuitous violence to spare, I think they suceeded. That doesn't mean it's bad, only weird and crappy, but in a good way.

Eric Andre uses dated SCTV(Second City Television) video effects to make the video interesting - each scene leaves you wondering what they'll do next? I like the shot of Thundercat playing his six string bass backwards.

Because this is done on the JASH comedy channel on YouTube, don't take it too seriously. Yes "Tron Song" is an actual song from Thundercat's solo album, Apocalypse and Eric Andre is an actual comedian but, because the video is part of the "$5K Videos" portion of JASH's programming, it is experiemental.

Hope they do another one soon!

Ohini Jonez - 'Love Underground' Album Review.

Ohini Jonez's Love Underground is a double sided set, Love is side A while Underground is side B.  Love Underground is a subjective project, it's Jonez delving deep inside of himself and using those feelings as inspiration for the album's material.

Although we've seen double disc albums before, like OUTKAST's Speakerboxx/Love Below, that project was two artists expressing themselves separately. This project is one artist, with the help of his peers, choosing separates sides to articulate various sides of himself.

Jonez challenges himself and us on Love to become better people through honesty. His lyrics are sincere, he shares his hopes, dreams, failures and successes with us. Songs like "Violence" - "Sex without love is violence" and "Heart Shaped Box" "... your pain is my pain/ but my pain is your entertainment", shows his ability to share his perspective with the listener.

On Underground Jonez is just as honest, except this time, about himself, his talents and how he views the world. He's clever and his rhyme schemes  and delivery are polished, which makes for good listening. His writing is thought provoking, songs like "Runnin" or "The Radiant Child" illustrate his ability to write from within as well as interpret the world around him.

Songwriting is about communicating directly to the listener, not above or below, but directly... Jonez does so without putting on airs - dude is real... he's authentic.

I look forward to hearing the growth of Ohini Jonez, but for now, I'll enjoy Love Underground and get up on this "Sky Scrapin" he's talking about.

Produced by Ohini Jonez and Levi Hamilton.
