In move that many saw coming, states are considering removing laws that make it a right to have land-line telephone service.

With the prices of mobile phones dropping and the use/purchasing of them increasing it has become less necessary to have a land-line in some homes.

Nicki Minaj: "Starships"(Remix) Live In Times Square

Nicki Minaj performed live in Times Square to launch the release of her new album "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded" and Nokia's new cellphone Nokia Lumia 900.

Concert-goers danced to a few of her hits before the debut of "Nokia Lumia Live Remix: Nicki Minaj featuring DJ Doorly". 

i-Robot used the latest CGI technology to produce the world largest display on nine screens to create this spectacular concert in Times Square.

AT&T to Offer Windows Smart Phones

Next month AT&T will make the Nokia Lumia 900, a 4G, Windows Phone, available for $99.99(with a 2 year contract), April 8th.

In case you aren't aware, this is where Windows makes its move to muscle into the smartphone market, hoping to compete then surpass Apple(iOS) and Google(Android) operating software. While there is a market for such a product, Windows will have to convince consumers to drop the familar and take a chance with the unknown - that's where the $99.99 price tag comes in.

Cellphones Possibly Big Germ Spreader in Hospitals

Before you borrow or use a cellphone in a hospital you'd better think twice, you could be getting ready to spread germs. If you see someone else using one, they could be getting ready to do the same thing.

A new report found the cellphones of visitors or patients test positive for germs that could possibly cause infections. Staff workers tend to disinfect more and their phones were found to have fewer germs.

Because it is difficult to disinfect a phone without damaging it, cellphones may have to be left out of hospitals altogether.

Home Phones Being Replaced by Mobile Phones

Cellphones are taking the place of home phones in many homes throughout the U.S. according to the National Center for Health Statistics.

In towns like Houston, TX the number of people with a cellphone listed as their primary phone is at 32%. 

This trend is likely to continue and never reverse itself, much like the rotary dial phone or banks being closed on weekends.

Now we see why telecommunications companies are getting into the high-speed internet and television.

Major U.S. Cell Providers to Sell Samsung Tablet

Samsung Galaxy Tab will be sold by all four cellular carriers in the coming months.

In a move that is sure to take a bite out of Apple's iPad sales, all four major U.S. cell phone companies have agreed to sell the Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet computer between October and December.

The Galaxy runs Android OS.

The Galaxy Tab's screen is 7 inches, while the iPad screen is 9.7 inches.

Where the Galaxy separates itself from the iPad -

• it has two cameras for teleconferencing
• plays Flash video(somewhat an internet standard - Apple doesn't appear to have plans to use Flash. In the past they have called it unrelible and).

Walmart to Offer $45 Phone Plans with Unlimited Talk and Text

Beginning September 20, Walmart will roll out a new cellular service called Walmart Family Mobile.

The plan offers unlimited talk and text for $45 a month, with no contract. You have to pay more if you want to use the Internet.

Unlike their other plans, this one won't require you to pay in advance and you get additional phones added for $25.

Verizon's Straight Talk is being done in conjunction with Verizon, while Walmart Family Mobile will use T-Mobile service.

Cellphones, were originally be used to make calls, but since the phone has been able to handle other applications like texting, social networking, surfing the Internet and viewing email, making calls has taken a backseat.

Cellphone users are more interested in their data plans than minutes and the trend doesn't appear to be ending.
