Northern Central Park has a rich history. The Harlem Meer sits at the top of the park, in the northeast corner, and this year, for the first time, a Christmas tree is floating through its waters.

Musicians Fined for Performing In New York's Central Park

Central Park has designated "hot spots" as quiet areas and began discouraging musicians from performing in the park by fining them.

I've watched musicians and singers in Central Park, Washington Square Park and on Prince Street in Soho and I never heard anyone complain about the noise... they were too busy trying to get closer to hear the music.

Sounds like certain citizen groups don't want musicians in the park... at all. (Elitism alert!)

ABC Decides Not to Do Drake Central Park Concert

After being told by the NYPD to amp up security if they wanted to have Drake as a performer in their Summer Concert Series, ABC said forget it and passed on the Central Park show.

The NYPD told the city Parks Department their security plan was not good enough and they would need more security personnel.

In light of the June 15 cancelled concert, which Drake never got to perform, the city is concerned about having too many fans show. 10,000 people were expected, but, 25,000 arrived to see the popular full-time rapper/part-time singer.

The world famous Tavern on the Green restaurant will be selling many of their decor elements at an auction, January 13, 2010. The NYT was there to take a tour of the famed establishment which finds itself in bankruptcy court.

I've said it before...if you've never been to the Central Park Dance Skaters Circle, you haven't experienced New York. The Central Park Dance Skaters Association does a great job of keeping the vibe organic - the people are loose and comfortable and the music is always good.

I like this clip because I was walking through that part of the park when it was filmed.

Boo Dance Skating At The Central Park Skater's Circle

The Central Park Dance Skaters Association has been in Central Park for years at the Skate Circle on Skaters Road. They offer some of the best skaters in the area the chance to get fresh and do what they do.

It's also a great place to people watch and enjoy a Saturday or Sunday if you happen to be in Central Park.
