Georgia Anne Muldrow is one of my favorite artist/singer/producers. Her output is more recognizable because of its unique qualities more than one overall sound. Because she is consantly growing, her music continues to do the same.
Share a session and interview with labelowner(SomeOthaShipConnect), creative and world musician Georgia Anne Muldrow.
Sidenote:
Her point about Hip and R&B music being left out of the World Music discussion is a valid point... and one I've been making for years. There has been an attempt by those outside of the genres and inside of it, to shun or shy away from including it in discussions about music that represents people of the world.
The same people will you how many pop/alternative/electronic records they've listened to but exclude every form of African-American created music. African-American influenced music has changed the world for the better and added to musical lexicon. At this point there are Hip Hop producers(J Dilla, DJ Premier, Larry Smith, DJ Quik, Dr. Dre,etc.) who are as innovative and groundbreaking as Isaac Hayes, Curtis Mayfield, Norman Whitfield, so the discussion becomes broader.
Let's stop that frontin'.
It has become the elephant in the room no one wants to speak about. ~ Martin Cameron Smith
If you're really into deep funk, check out Quazedelic. He's worked with George Clinton, Snoop Dogg and a lot of other cats that you'd be impressed to know about.
Look for his new album, Stan Sly: Anuthaworld to drop October 5th on Georgia Anne Muldrow and Declaime's SomeOthaShip Connect label.
Don't sleep on Georgia Anne Muldrow and Declaime. They are a big part of the future of L.A. music
The second single from the forthcoming album FONK on the new label from Declaime and Georgia Anne Muldrow, SomeOtherShip Connect.
This is why I dig Declaime... he always gets his point across, but he does it in a way that makes you consider what you thought you wanted with what you really should want.
Gangsta compares the facade of a gangsta(studio gangsta) to the definition or ideal of a real gangsta(a person who is real).
R&B singer Darryl Moore delivers a soulful, well written and well produced song. His voice is reminiscent of Glenn Jones or Phillipe Wynne, smooth and controlled. The emotion is his vocal is the icing on the cake.(They did a great mix on this one. They processed the vocals correctly and balanced all of the levels and frequencies well. That's what's up.)
Forthcoming album, Where I'm At drops May 4th on SomeOtherShip Connect(Georgia Anne Muldrow and Declaime's new label).
Georgia Anne and Declaime are out there making some big moves on the West Coast. Don't sleep on them y'all!
Returning back to his roots and doing some of that West Coast funk.
Declaime wants this project to reflect that Funk sound that is embedded in West Coast culture. Make sure you listen to a lot of his lyrics on his songs... deep brother.
Georgia and Declaime took some time to do an extended interview while out promoting their new album.
Be sure to catch Georgia Anne Muldrow and Declaime this April 10th live in the Bay area at Yuris Night. It's going down at the NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, CA(see flyer below).
