Another 9th Wonder presentation...
9th Wonder's Jamla label and IWWMG(It's A Wonderful World Music Group) drop the Sean Boog mixtape/album, Phantom of the Jamla - the set features labelmates HaLo and Sundown throughout.
Sean Boog, HaLo and Sundown show a chemistry on this project that allows the work to flow seamlessly, letting the listener enjoy the work versus dissecting it for critique.
One constant with much of the Jamla recordings I hear - the equal quality between the emcees and the production - there is never an imbalance. The skill level of the emcee always matches the skill level of the producer, this reciprocity is the beauty of their productions.
Although Jamla is play on the Tamla label of Berry Gordy's, I liken the label more accurately to jazz label CTI(Creed Taylor Incorporated). A small boutique Jazz label(that would later play a huge role in Hip-Hop sampling sources) with talented artists, often collaborating, putting out groundbreaking work that will increase in value(musical and monetary) in time.
Phantom of the Jamla continues the same pattern.
