Woody Harrelson On the Reality of 'Rampart'

Woody Harrelson. Photo: Robert Gauthier

via latimes

Actor Woody Harrelson talks about how he gave one of the most resonating performances of his life, but because of a flaw in the DVD duplication process will not be eligible for an Oscar - 3500 screeners were unable to be viewed.

He also goes into why this role in Rampart impacted him more than some of his others. While the film deals with the events that took place in the LAPD division during the late 90s, it is primarily about how his character, Dave Brown, lives in his own world and the conflict he faces when interacting with others around him.

Georgia Anne Muldrow on Production

Georgia Anne Muldrow is one of my favorite artist/singer/producers. Her output is more recognizable because of its unique qualities more than one overall sound. Because she is consantly growing, her music continues to do the same.

Share a session and interview with labelowner(SomeOthaShipConnect), creative and world musician Georgia Anne Muldrow.

Sidenote:

Her point about Hip and R&B music being left out of the World Music discussion is a valid point... and one I've been making for years. There has been an attempt by those outside of the genres and inside of it, to shun or shy away from including it in discussions about music that represents people of the world.

The same people will you how many pop/alternative/electronic records they've listened to but exclude every form of African-American created music. African-American influenced music has changed the world for the better and added to musical lexicon. At this point there are Hip Hop producers(J Dilla, DJ Premier, Larry Smith, DJ Quik, Dr. Dre,etc.) who are as innovative and groundbreaking as Isaac Hayes, Curtis Mayfield, Norman Whitfield, so the discussion becomes broader.

Let's stop that frontin'.

It has become the elephant in the room no one wants to speak about. ~ Martin Cameron Smith

Feature Film Production Up in 2011 While TV Dipped in Los Angeles

Warner bros' 'Gangster Squad' Starring Sean Penn and Ryan Gosling filmed in Los Angeles. Photo: Latimes

via latimes

In 2011, Los Angeles lost television shoots because of more competition from New York, but feature film production slowly increased.

Film production increased due to their state's tax credit program, according to FilmL.A., Inc.

Filmmakers can receive tax credit up to 25% of production in certain areas.

Some of the feature films approved for the program last year included "Gangster Squad", "Argo", and "This is 40".

Commercials shot on location increased from the year before, setting a new annual record for the region.
