Kenneth Cole and Macy's Enter Agreement to Sell Lower Priced Menswear Line

Kenneth Cole's Reaction unit has entered into an agreement with Macy's to sell a lower priced men's sportswear collection in 150 locations.

Look for the collection, to be sold exclusively at Macy's this Fall.

This move is in keeping with the practice of major retailers partnering with top designers to bring in customers, while being able to guarantee the designers distribution and sales during the economic downturn.

Macy's Closing Five Stores

Macy's will be closing 5 stores in an effort to shed underperforming stores. We all know lower numbers bring your averages down, so we can only imagine how these stores made their profits look.

The stores are located in:

• Downtown Boise, ID (16 employees)
• Summit Place Mall, Waterford, MI (70 employees)
• Northwest Plaza, St. Ann, MO (71 employees)
• Downtown Missoula, MT (55 employees)
• Burlington Center Mall, Burlington, NJ (50 employees)

All of the above stores will begin final clearance sales on Sunday, January 10th. The sales will run for 60 days.

Displaced full-time and part-time employees will receive severance benefits and outplacement assistance.

At least they waited until after Christmas. Yeah...right!
