Video: The Bangz ft. New Boyz - "Found My Swag"

I hope Ella Ann is better. I really liked the combination of Sabi and Ella together. I see a lot of cameos in this video.

I like the fact that these Jerk songs are mixed better than they were last year, gives them better shelf life and makes them bang better in the clubs.

Come on Warner/Asylum, you only got a few more months before it's on to the next. Ish is starting to look like Hyphy.

Put the records out.

Jerkin Finally Gets Featured In The New York Times

via nytimes

After initially covering the Jerkin' movement coming out of Los Angeles, I was pleased with the amount of coverage it was getting. Fast forward to fall of this year and the stories are not as easy to find.

Fortunately, the NYT did a good job of tying together the dance's past influences, featuring some of the dancers and they've added a nice audio-visual(click here to see it)feature.

Can we finally get to hear some of these records?

The New Boyz Performed In NYC Last Week...Read About It

via nytimes

The New Boyz performed in NYC at a teen party sponsored by Hot 97. The event was held at Promenade(as part of their promotional effort to raise awareness of the new album, Skinny Jeans and A Mic).

John Caramanica from the New York Times became quickly aware of something I've been noticing since the Spring...these labels have got to promote these Jerkin' acts better. While the mostly female crowd went crazy for the guys, there were very few people there, considering the size of the venue and the popularity of most Jerkin' artists.

While this particular party was sponsored and promoted by Hot 97, in general, there hasn't been a lot of promotion outside of the traditional avenues.

Yes, the guys have been making the rounds to magazines, interviewing at radio and doing local shows, but, it's going to take a bigger, more targeted effort to connect with what's going on in the streets with what's happening at radio.

Have you ever wanted to get all of the latest Jerkin music, interviews, photos or videos?

I'm gonna keep it one hundred for you... I'm one of maybe two blogs on the East coast blogging about Jerkin on a consistent basis, so it only makes sense that I write about the only site for it.

So head over to JusJerk.com and get your Jerkin fix...you know you want to.

Some video from JusJerk.com...check the "Remote Control Pin Drop" at the end.

"We're Jerkin' Cover Story For LA Weekly

via laweekly

If you have been coming to this site for a while, first and foremost... I thank you...secondly, you know I've been posting on this Jerkin' scene heavy.

It has the most potential of any recent trend because it incorporates a variety trends from various regions of the country(giving others some aspect to like) and the rappers actually have a high talent level. When I say talent level, I mean that literally. These guys have so much talent it makes it hard not to notice them - they dance well, they rap well(good timing), have a flair for performance(stage presence), promote themselves and produce much of their music. Their scene is autonomous and that will help it to sustain itself.

Am I saying Jerkin' is the future? No... but, I am saying, it is the now... and until something better comes along, you better get hip to this.

That's why I want you to head over to the LAWeekly and check out Jeff Weiss' cover story, "We're Jerkin'. It will introduce you to the groups, the dances and the ever-changing landscape of Jerkin'.

Well written piece, covered from the inside looking out, unlike other stories I've read on the subject.

Because I saw the potential early, I blogged hard on the Jerkin' scene and it's only gotten bigger... so get hip to this.

Click this link: We're Jerkin' - LA Weekly

Take a look at some of the work Jeff Weiss put into this story...and what these Jerkers put into him.

New Boyz Discuss Their Careers, The Jerk Dance and The Album

These cats are working. They've been getting the interviews in and doing all kinds of press.

Warner Bros. should have a good first week when this project drops... depending on the next single.

If you haven't heard that "New Gurl" joint, you gotta check it out.
