New York Pay Phones as Libraries

One man hopes to improve the quality of life in New York City by making books available to the public using custom-made bookshelves made to fit around the city's oldest communication device... the pay phone.

The idea of a community llbrary where books can be borrowed, returned and shared is the beginning of a bigger interaction he'd like to see take place in the community.

'The Amazing Spider-Man' Movie Trailer

'The Amazing Spider-Man'(in 3D) movie has great visuals of NYC, and enough action that'll keep you on the edge of your seat.

Peter Parker discovers information about his parents disappearance. This information leads the crimefighter to his father's former business partner. 

Under the direction of Marc Webb the storyline is modern and more youthful than the last couple of 'Spider-Man' films which makes this one cool!

You can expect to see it in theaters on July 3rd.

WeSC + Scrillex Secret Show - NYC

Last week WeSC held a secret party at an undisclosed location with a performance by 5-time Grammy nominees Scrillex. 

Those invited were asked to meet at the WeSC Concept store in Soho where they were put aboard a bus blind-folded and driven to the secret location.

He only serves chili at his MacDougal Street location in New York City.

Flying Around New York City...Literally

Three friends decided it would be interesting to fly remote controlled planes over the East River between the Briooklyn and Mahattan Bridges.

They decided it wasn't enough to fly normal planes, they constructed human like cut-outs which they placed on the planes to give the appearance of a person flying.

NYC: Dubspot & Propellerheads presents Hank Shocklee & Falty DL - Dubspot Live Streaming Workshop - Jan. 30th

Monday January 30th at 7:30PM - 9:30PM EST, the Dubspot and Propellerheads will host a live streaming workshop at Dubspot in New York City with legendary, sonic genius, Hank Shocklee, Brooklyn producer Falty DL, vocalist and violinists Cody Geil and guests.

Look for them to demonstrate how to use Reason 6 and the Balance audio interface.

If you plan on attending the event in person you must RSVP due to limited space. If you are not able to make it downtown, you can view the live stream from Dubspot's blog.

Normally I would attend this event.  I'll be checking this out from the live stream. Hank Shocklee is always a good person to see live and a friendly dude.

The 1st Baby Born on New Year's Day 2012 in NYC

Baby Girl Rania Ali was born on New Year's Day in NYC. Photo: ABC Newsvia abc

Rania Ali was the 1st baby born on New Year's Day in New York City.

The proud parents from the Bronx welcomed her at midnight at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx.

She weighed 7 pounds 14 ounces(18 and a half inches long).
