You either want to be in the photo or you wonder what the subject is thinking. His work communicates to the viewer, forcing you to be active - none of that passive ish.

His latest work documents hip-hop in the 80's before it became a multi-million dollar industry.

The book release is in conjunction with the world premiere of Charlie Ahearn's documentary "Jamel Shabazz Street Photographer".
