This set from Camp Lo and producer Ski Beatz(@skibeatz) sounds good. I've been waiting on "The Lo" for a minute so I have it on play. Geechi Suede and Sonny Cheeba don't miss a beat with their unique rhythmic flow. All that's missing is a "complete mixdown" for a bigger sound and we have half of the album here.
I didn't see this coming, but I'm glad it dropped when it did. Suede should be back from Paris right about now. "Hope you traveled safely and Bless Up!"
Party with Ski Beatz(@skibeatz) in NYC on Friday May 25th as provides a live DJ set. It's spring, it's gonna be a Friday night and it's down on Bleecker(the live part near NYU), don't miss out.
I always like Rugz D. Bewler over Ski Beatz production, that said, I'm feeling "Thank God" from 24 Hour Karate School Presents Twilight.
Good to see producers showing how a project can be handled, completed and distributed professionally. Great sound quality, visuals, appearances from all artists involved in videos. Those who do not handle your biz this way... take notes.
SkiBeatz visited #SwayInTheMorning and he brought along The Seneis to peform a number of selections from 24 Hour Karate School Presents: Twilight.
Sway In The Morning's in-studio Concert Series is a great idea. It provides an avenue for artists to perform their material and allows more fans to be reached.
I recall while Sway (@RealSway) was on Hot 97 in New York City with Rich Nice, they brought singer/musician Van Hunt on air to perform two songs "Down Here In Hell" & " Second of Pleasure" from his newly released slef-titled album. To this day, I like his performance on Sway's show more than the album cuts.
I hope this continues because it showcases Ski Beatz material in the proper context. It shows it not only as music to be listened to but to be performed in a live setting and enjoyed.
I've Tweeted @Skibeatz a number of times and said I believe his ability to arrange is what sets him apart from other producers who have tried what he is doing. I can't be sure whether he got those Tweets but, I am sure that he is taking Hip Hop in a progressive direction that will open more doors for artists to practice their craft, further the art and make a living.
Excuse me while I go listen to more of SkiBeatz's Twilight.
The fourth video single off 24 Hr Karate School presents Twilight. Available NOW.
Ski Beatz(@skibeatz) output of music is prolific. As often as he releases projects there is never anything lacking in the quality of his production and song selection.
"Who You Wit" can be found on the soundtrack of the motion picture 'Sprung'.
When Ski Beatz flipped this sample he showed how much he understood frequencies and how to arrange a track.
I had been familiar with the original song Night Love by Jeff Lorber but what he did with the drums and compression made the song pop. The backbeat was so strong it accentuated the syncopated piano chords of Jeff Lorber, setting the stage for Jay-Z's, now classic, flow.
Damn, I wish Jay-Z would rap like this again - even if its just a single that'd be cool!
Producer Ski Beatz decided to spontaneously film himself while in the studio. Here he shows the creativity of chopping - one of the foundations of contemporary hip-hop production.
