Cool song, but the video actually takes away from the vibe created by keys and arrangements in the song. The song is a contrast between bright melodies and darker progressions creating tensions that get released when the major chords are played.
The darker sections provide the funk and the brighter sections with falsetto harmonies there to create good feeling. This video doesn't convey any of that and shows a disconnect between both pieces of art.
I understand it's an interpretation, but as a songwriter and producer who creates visual content I feel the same consistency that was displayed with the early 70's African-American sound should have carried over to the visual to create a more powerful and memorable piece of art.
