Many of the earlier records are important because they carried the weight of the music and culture on their backs. That's why it's disrespectful for an artist to live in a house and have no regard for those who built and maintained it years earlier. 

The DJs, artists, managers and the scene around Hip-Hop built it to become global, not major labels. What we see now is the result of the major label. Respect the appropriate parties.

You don't have to live in the past, but you don't have to forget it. History is history whether it's recognized or not.

'Beat Street' Trailer

The trailer includes an alternate version of the title song performed by Kool Moe Dee, a version that was not featured in the movie or on the original soundtrack albums.

The trailer also features many scenes that never made it into the final cut.

REWIND: Lord Finesse vs Percee P

This is the joint where Finesse(@LordFinesseDITC) and Percee P(@Perceep) got together after having their famous Bronx battle the summer of 1989.

This is the footage from the original battle.

I gotta be honest... Part 2 is my favorite. You gotta hear Finesse at the end from the 8:00 minute mark. He goes off.

Percee P is doing his thing, no doubt, but, Lord Finesse came with a looser style, perfect metaphors and great punch lines.

This video is where Finesse and Percee P came together to do a take on their famous battle in the Bronx during the summer of 1989(minus heat, the crowds and that damned ice cream truck in the background).

It became necessary to repost these videos because they could no longer be accessed from the original post.

Rapper Cory Gunz has a new reality show that chronicles his struggles to make it as a star in the Bronx.

Gunz is the son of rapper Peter Gunz, of 90's duo Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz, best known for the hit "Deju Vu."

The show premieres April 28th on MTV.
