Behind the Scene: "Tower Heist" Starring Eddie Murphy and Ben Stiller

Actor/Comedian Eddie Murphy as Slide in "Tower Heist."

This crime comedy is about a group of guys who has lost their savings in a Ponzi scheme.

They decide to rob Arthur Shaw, the wealthy businessman who stole their money, at his apartment in New York. 

This film sounds very Madoff-ish.

A star-studded cast directed by Brett Ratner and produced by Brian Glazier and Eddie Murphy.

"Tower Heist" opens in theaters on Friday, November 4th.

The "Contraband" stars Mark Wahlberg who's Chris Farraday, a security guard with money trouble. 

He considers returning to his old smuggling ways when an associate offers him a lucrative opportunity.

This film was directed by Baltasar Kormákur and shoot in New Orleans(LA) and Panama City, Panama.

In theaters January 2012.

Greenlight: "The Best Man 2" Sequel

Universal has greenlit "The Best Man 2" the Sequel to the 1999 comedy drama of the same name.

The original film was about a writer(Harper) who's the best man in his best friend's(Lance) wedding. 

The drama begins when a soon-to-be released novel Harper wrote reveals his encounter with his best friend's future wife(Mia) days before the wedding. 

Writer/director Malcolm D. Lee from the original movie will also write, direct and produce the sequel.

I've watched this film numerous times and each time is better than the last.

It's been a long time sense a film of this caliber was release in Hollywood...can't wait to it!

Actress Mary Elizabeth Winston and director Matthijs van Heijningen Jr.

"The Thing" is a sci-fi prequel to John Carpenter's 1982 film of the same name. 

The discovery of an alien causes conflict between a graduate student and a scientist at an Antarctica research center.

The WGA Files Claim Over "Bring It On: The Musical"

The Writers Guild of America(WGA) has filed a claim over "Bring It On: The Musical" on behalf of screenwriter Jessica Bendinger who wrote the Universal film that started the franchise.

Bendinger learned that a New York theater attorney(not affiliated with film) had been shopping the theatrical rights to the film(the same rights she had planned to shop).

This is a complicated matter, but I'm glad to see that the WGA has stepped in and not let this be another case where nothing is achieved on behalf of the screenwriter.

The movie formerly known as "Employee of the Month" will open in theaters on July 1st as "Larry Crowne."

A movie about a middle-aged man who loses his job and reinvents himself by going back to college.

Directed by Tom Hanks who co-wrote along with Julia Roberts, and plays Larry in the movie.

He made his directorial debut in 1996 with "That Thing You do"(which is a pretty cool film).

Film legend, Elizabeth Taylor(79) died on Wednesday morning of congestive heart failure in Los Angeles Hospital.

The two-time Academy Award winner was born Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor in England.

She appeared in her first feature film, "There's One Born Every Minute,"  in 1942 at age 9.

Taylor spoke the first words of Lisa on "The Simpson" television series(original air date, Dec.1992).

Paramount Extends Quick-Release Deal with Redbox; Others Hold Out

Paramount Pictures is extending a deal through 2014 with Redbox.

Paramount will provide their movies on the same day they go on sale.

Warner Bros., Universal Picture and 20th Century are holding out, having all signed deals with Redbox to block rentals of their DVDs until 4 weeks after they go on sale.
