Three of the top seed tennis players are wearing designer dresses.

Williams Sisters Advance to Final

For the fourth time, Venus and Serena will play one another at Wimbledon for the championship.

Serena beat fourth seed, Elena Dementieva 6-7, 7-5, 8-6.

Venus wasted no time putting away top-seeded Dinara Safina 6-1, 6-0.

Serena has won the title against big sister Venus twice.

Wimbledon's Centre Court Roof At Night

Thought the weather has cooperated most of the week, there finally was a need to close the roof for the first time...ever(during championship play).

The crowd kept hoping there would be a reason to close it. Everything from cheering to doing the wave was done in hopes that the official word would be given...it was.

This particular shot above was taken at night, but the first time it was closed was during the day.

If it has to be closed at any point during a match, it has to stay closed until the match is completed.

Serena playing strong, beat Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia, 6-3, 6-1. She is a favorite among tennis insiders to win it all.

Venus knocks out former No. 1 player Ana Ivanovic. The Serbian retired while trailing 6-1, 0-1 due to a leg injury.

Update: As I'm sure you know by now both sisters will be playing each other in the finals.

Look for this to be an evenly matched affair. While Serena has a "power game" and

an excellent serve, Venus is better in my opinion at returning and being able to cover the court. Her height and reach advantage won't come into play as much as her speed...watch. To the casual observer Serena may seem to have the upper hand, but, the real fans remember Venus has been playing longer...and when healthy...she is unstoppable.

If you've been following the earlier rounds, you know the Tennis Channel has been broadcasting the Wimbledon Championship.

The first day of Wimbledon is underway... the winners and losers are in...

Federer and Sharapova played well, Williams was a little shaky and Blake didn't do well.

Weather: Although it was cloudy during play, there was no need to close the new retractable roof during play.

Wimbledon's New Centre Court Roof Should Work Well: June 22-July 5

With Wimbledon slowly approaching the time has come to see the new roof in action during actual tournament play.  

Although Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf , Tim Henman and Kim Clijsters played an exhibition match at the roofs unveiling, this will be the first time it will be used during scheduled games.

Wimbledon To Debut Retractable Roof At Centre Court

Although the 2009  Wimbledon Championships don't start until June 22 ending July 5, there will be a ceremony tomorrow, Sunday May 17 to demonstrate the new roof.  

The French Open has announced plans to add a retractable roof at Roland Garros by 2011.

Look for this to change the outcome of many matches.  Players will not be able to rest during rain delays or treat injuries.  Being forced to play according to schedule will test the endurance of the athletes more than we have seen in the past.
