"NY 77: The Coolest Year In Hell" - All Parts

New York City has always been a resilient city, able to bounce back from the worst of adversities and at no other time in the city's history has this been more true than the year of 1977. That particular year was the best and the worst for the "Greatest City" in the world... "The Big Apple".

It was the launching pad for so many cultural, political and personal efforts that would later change the world. If you ask many of today's icons who are products of New York City's boroughs when they became inspired to pursue their career paths one year is repeated the most - 1977.

It's said, "Tough times make tough people" and if this is true, 1977 in New York City made some of the toughest people the world has ever seen.

Word to Reggie Jackson.

YouTube to Begin Live Streaming... for Some

YouTube will slowly roll out live streaming.

Initially, they will only offer the service to 'trusted partners"(whatever that means), but in time I guess they will include the "untrusted partners".

No, it won't compete with UStream, but it's a step into the new decade.

$5 For A Movie... On YouTube? Damn Right.

YouTube will show 5 films from Sundance for around $5 each.

via usatoday

With the Sundance Film Festival off to a start, YouTube wants to get involved by airing select movies from the festival for approximately $5.

YouTube says it's a way to bring more independent films to the public, but, it looks like a test to see if they can monetize YouTube and begin charging for premium content.

It is true, that of the 9000 films shown at Sundance last year, only 53 were able to secure distribution.

Could this be another avenue for filmmakers to show their work to the public? Maybe.

Is it a test to see whether people will begin to pay for something they've been getting free of charge? Definitely.
